Welcome to the ERC Group "Liquid Dynamics"
The research in the group is centred around the dynamics of liquids with a particular focus on the dynamics of ionic and hydrogen-bonded interactions in the liquid phase. To study interactions in the liquid phase we use a combination of spectroscopic methods – predominantly femtosecond infrared and dielectric relaxation spectroscopy complemented by nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and computational methods. Current research themes range from the characterization of the fundamentals of liquids (e.g. hydrogen-bond dynamics in pure water, charge transport in electrolytes, ionic interactions in ionic liquids, etc.) to application of such knowledge on ionic and hydrogen-bonding interactions in technological processes (e.g. catalysis, cellulose processing, waste treatment, protein stabilization, etc.).
