Job Offer from April 07, 2025
Two PhD positions in computational chemistry/physics are available at the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research (MPIP) in Mainz, Germany, within the STREAM Group (Simulations of Transformations at Electrochemical Aqueous Media) in the Bonn Department.
Our group focuses on advancing the microscopic understanding of aqueous interfaces through state-of-the-art atomistic simulations, with a particular emphasis on electrified interfaces and interfacial chemistry. We employ molecular dynamics simulations using classical, DFT, and machine-learning-based interatomic potentials, alongside advanced techniques such as enhanced sampling and path integral molecular dynamics. We collaborate closely with experimental groups, mainly through the theoretical prediction of vibrational spectroscopies, including SFG, IR, Raman, and TERS.
Candidate Profile
We welcome applications from graduates with a Master’s degree in Physics, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field. Experience with Linux, Python, Fortran, and/or C++ is an advantage.
Application Requirements
Your application should include:
- Cover letter outlining your background and motivation
- Resume / CV (including contact details for potential references and a publication list, if available)
- Certificates and references for completed degrees and courses
(Please include contact information for potential references who can provide letters of recommendation in your CV.)
How to Apply
Please send your application electronically to Yair Litmany at litmany@mpip-mainz.mpg.de with the subject line:
