Main Focus

Carina’s research focuses on the synthesis and design of nanocarriers, with an emphasis on their surface modification with bioactive molecules for targeted delivery to dendritic cells in vivo. She investigates various surface functionalization strategies to achieve high selectivity and uptake into the target cells, aiming to create and optimize nanocarrier-based systems for future application as anti-tumor vaccines.

Curriculum Vitae

Carina obtained her B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Chemistry from the University of Konstanz, Germany, graduating with distinction in 2018 and 2021, respectively, with the support of a scholarship from the German Academic Scholarship Foundation. Her Master's thesis in the group of Helmut Cölfen centered on the surface modification of polyetheretherketone (PEEK)-based bone implants for an improved bioactivity. In February 2022, she joined the Department of Physical Chemistry of Polymers as a PhD researcher and member of the CRC 1066 graduate school.
