Main Focus

Her research primarily focuses on utilizing electron and fluorescence microscopy techniques to characterize nanomaterials. Currently, she is engaged in a collaborative project employing cryo-EM coupled with single-particle analysis to achieve atomic resolution of peptide nanofibers. Additionally, she is experienced in techniques such as dSTORM and DNA-PAINT, alongside polymer and nanoparticle synthesis.

Curriculum Vitae

Francesca Mazzotta, a PhD student in Chemistry, graduated with honors (BS-MS) from the University of Roma Tor Vergata, Italy, in 2020. During her master's program, she conducted research at Lund University, focusing on Amyloid-β42 under Sara Linse's guidance. Since September 2021, she has been pursuing her PhD at the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research (MPI-P) in the Physical Chemistry of Polymers department, as part of the Supercol project funded by the H2020 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions of the European Commission. Her research involved two research stays, one at the Technical University of Eindhoven and another in an industrial setting at Covestro. Under the supervision of Prof. Katharina Landfester and Dr. Ingo Lieberwirth, she employs advanced microscopy techniques such as CryoEM, dSTORM, and DNA-PAINT to investigate soft matter with high resolution.
