As part of the new series Wissens Bissen ("Knowledge Bites"), Prof. Katharina Landfester, Director at the MPI for Polymer Research, and coral researcher Jonathan Jung from the MPI for Chemistry discuss a very topical subject: Everyone is talking about microplastics, but what does this have to do with corals? Are microplastics damaging coral? What exactly are microplastics? The two scientists discuss these and other questions, providing insight into a complex field of research.
Wissens Bissen is a new series of events where research is presented to the public by insiders in an informal and relaxed atmosphere. Before and after the event, visitors can admire the diversity of corals in a small exhibition and walk along the Polymer Path in the outdoor area of the MPI for Polymer Research. More than 30 exhibits demonstrate the benefits of plastics as well as their environmental impact.
5 pm: Appetiser – short guided tours of the Polymer Path
6 pm: Panel talk followed by discussion
7 pm: Group walk along the Polymer Path
Admission free. Registration is requested.
